How to make your cocktails look better

Perhaps you’ve read our article about wine glasses already, but did you know that cocktails are to be served in a particular glass as well? Let’s start with one of the most used glass types. You probably have it at home already.

1. High ball glass

A high ball glass is a tall and skinny glass that is very good for gin-and-tonics, vodka and club sodas, whiskey and gingers. It can also be used for tiki cocktails made with crushed ice.

Cocktails: BACARDI ANEJO CUARTO - HIGHBALLTHE AUTHENTIC MICHELADA!, PUNCH UP YOUR POLAR!

2. Coupe glass

Have you ever had a martini? If so, then you definitely know what we’re talking about. It’s not the regular V-shaped martini glass. It’s actually more round, as a v-shaped glass may cause spillage while sipping. This is why many bars and restaurant replaced their V-shaped glasses for the coupe glasses.

These glasses are good for cocktails that have been shaken or stirred with ice and then served chilled, without ice. As our hands radiates heat, the stem prevents us from warming our drink.

3. Single rocks glass

A single rock glass is what you’ll need for any drink, whether mixed, neat or on the rocks. You can also use it for a cocktail that has been stirred and/or chilled, such as a Negroni. These glasses are ideal for drinks like brandy because you can easily smell the aromas. You should be able to put a decent chunk of ice in the drink so you can enjoy the drink while relaxing in your favorite chair.

4. Double rocks glass/ double old fashioned

The difference between this glass and the previous one is that this one is about two ounces bigger. We recommend using this glass for cocktails served on ice. You can serve neat drinks but it will look a bit sad in such a big glass.

Cocktails: EL TINDERO IS CALLING YOU!, DEWAR'S 12 - THE PENICILLIN

5. Shots glass

Yes, you know exactly what we’re talking about. Ever had a tequila in a big glass? Neither have we. This glass is perfect for shots but you should never fill it up all the way to the top. Give yourself some room to cheers.
